What is Sober Living?

Leaving treatment is a huge step, especially when going back to familiar people, places and things. Countless studies agree that transitioning from treatment into a sober living environment greatly improves our chances for life long recovery. Sober living provides opportunities for growth with promises and agreements to help foster the importance of a routine while living and adjusting in a community.  Newly recovering alcoholics and addicts deserve healthy boundaries in the first weeks and months of their recovery.  Hawk’s Nest House is designed to continue the healing process while helping residents successfully reintegrate into the world with new tools for a happy, successful life.

Sober Living Prevents Relapse

“In the Berkeley sober living community, only 11 percent of interviewees said they were completely abstinent from drugs and alcohol over the six months prior to their initial (“baseline”) interview.

During their stay in the sober home, that rate improved to:

  • 68 percent at the 6- and 12-month marks

  • 46 percent after 18 months“
